How You Can Drastically Improve Your Health By Following the Mediterranean Diet
In 2018, I was struggling to make healthy food choices and experienced constant joint pain, brain fog, blood sugar highs and lows, and extreme fatigue every day. These were symptoms that had become a part of my every day and was something that I thought I would always have to live with.
However, I knew there had to be a way for me to feel better, so I started doing research on evidence-based ways of eating that supported long-term health. As one of the healthiest diets in the world, the Mediterranean diet showed up repeatedly in my searches. In 2020, I decided to make the shift toward eating a more Mediterranean-based diet to support my health.
I started applying what I learned by following a Mediterranean-based diet and immediately saw great results!
After implementing a Mediterranean-based diet, I quickly noticed my energy levels drastically improve, I was sleeping SO much better each night, and my skin had become clear and glowing (yay for no more “adult acne!”) and I did all of this in a healthy, balanced way. Stainless Steel Baking Sheets
A good set of baking sheets is a must when eating healthy. They can be used to roast vegetables, make sheet-pan meals, do meal prep, and so much more. It is nice to have a few different sizes available for when you want to roast up large batches of vegetables, or just a few cloves of garlic, or a meal for two.
Vegetable Peeler
These veggie peelers are inexpensive and SO nice to have on hand! They are amazing for peeling potatoes or apples quickly and are so much easier than using the traditional peelers you find in stores. Give these a try and see just how much easier they are to use.
Durable Cutting Boards
I absolutely love having these cutting boards. The larger board is great for cutting up or shredding large pieces of meat (such as after smoking a pork shoulder or cooking a roast), while the smaller boards are the perfect size for chopping veggies and herbs. They are extremely durable and are dishwasher safe, making cleanup that much easier.
Measuring Cup & Spoon Set
As simple as it is, it is absolutely essential to have a good set of measuring cups and spoons when eating a healthy diet. You’ll likely be making more home-cooked meals and following more recipes, and you’ll want to make sure you have a set of measuring cups and spoons available to quickly prepare your meals. For the longest time, I tried to get away with not having a good vegetable slicer, but once I gave in and invested in one, there was no turning back. Now it is easy to create a delicious salad with lots of texture and variety because I can put my veggies through this mandolin and have it prepped in no time.

Eating healthier means relying more on herbs and spices to create bold and delicious flavors rather than high calorie and processed sauces and condiments. Avoid the headache of having to dig through your cupboards to find the spices you need and invest in a nice spice rack organizer that allows all your spices to be quick to find and easily accessible.
Instant Pot 7-in-1 Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Steamer, Sauté, and More
Guys, I am absolutely obsessed with my Instant Pot. I use it ALL the time, sometimes even multiple times a day when I am meal prepping. This Instant Pot does pressure cooking, slow cooking, steaming, sautéing, and so much more. I mostly use it for pressure cooking and slow cooking, and the initial investment has more than paid off with the amount of time I have saved to create healthy and delicious meals.
Chicago Cutlery Knife Kitchen Set
I cannot stress enough the importance of owning a good knife set. It’s something people often think they can get away with not having, but once you experience what it’s like to cut up veggies with a good, sharp knife, you’ll never go back. It saves you so much time (and hand cramping!) and is so worth having for your kitchen.
Don’t forget to also invest in an electric knife sharpener to keep your knives sharp and ready to use. Putting your knives through the dishwasher will quickly dull them, so either wash your knives by hand or check them regularly to see if they need a tune-up.
If you don’t need a large knife set, consider purchasing this smaller knife set that still includes the basic knives you need to make preparing meals super easy.
Instant Read Meat Thermometer
It’s important to make sure you are cooking meat to a safe temperature (as well as not overcooking your meat), and this instant read thermometer is so handy to have to quickly check the internal temperature of meat. It also comes with a cheat-sheet for a bunch of different meat, as different meat needs to be cooked to different temperatures.
Natural Bamboo Scrub Brushes for Pots, Pans, Fruit and Vegetables
Such a simple thing to have, but it makes prepping and clean up so much easier! I absolutely love these bamboo scrub brushes to wash my fruits and vegetables. They are natural and last for a long time.
Cuisinart Food Processor
A good food processor is great to have on hand if you need to quickly prep a large amount of vegetables or if you are making a soup, sauce, hummus, guacamole, or dressing. I have used my food processor for so many different things, and I love the versatility of the blades for making everything from a healthy chocolate pudding to butternut squash soup.
Meat Shredding Tool
Three things my husband and I love making is smoked shredded pork, Instant Pot Beef Pot Roast, and shredded bbq chicken, but the hand cramping that ensues when trying to shred a large amount of meat with two forks is definitely not our favorite part of making the meal. We ordered a set of these meat shredders and it has made shredding up meat so much easier! It’s such a simple and inexpensive gadget, but it is so worth having!
Belgian Waffle Maker with Removable Plates
Who doesn’t love waffles? I often whip up a large batch of gluten free waffles and store them in our freezer for quick and easy breakfasts. Simply pull out a waffle or two from the freezer, stick them in the toaster for a minute, and you have nice, crispy, fresh waffles for breakfast!
My biggest complaint with our waffle maker was that it was a pain to clean. I found this waffle maker, and I love that it has removable plates. Now I can throw them in the dishwasher and not have a bulky waffle maker to try to clean out in my sink.
Herb Chopping & Mincing Scissors
These scissors are so nifty to have when preparing a recipe that uses fresh herbs. They make it quick and easy to chop up a whole bunch of herbs and save me a lot of time trying to cut up little bunches with a knife.
Handheld Immersion Blender
Making soups and sauces is really easy with this handheld immersion blender! It is especially great to have if you are short on storage space in your kitchen and don’t want to have to store something as large as a food processor. It also saves on dishes by allowing you to blend everything in one pot and eliminating the need to transfer the food to a blender. Of course, having a food processor is good for so many things, but if only need something to blend up your soups and sauces, this may be just the tool you need.
BONUS: Eating Healthy on the Go
Having healthy meals and snacks while on the go can be challenging! I highly recommend investing in an insulated lunch box and glass water bottle to make sure you can store healthy foods and stay hydrated during your day.
