How to Choose the Best Greek Yogurt

Greek yogurt is high in protein and healthy fats, making it the perfect option for filling meals and snacks. Just 3/4 cup of whole Greek yogurt provides 6 grams of protein and 7 grams of fat.

Health benefits of Greek yogurt include:

  • improved bone health with vitamin D and calcium

  • improved gut health and probiotics

  • supported mental health with vitamin B12 and probiotics

  • may help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes

My favorite brand of Greek yogurt is Stonyfield’s Organic Probiotic Yogurt (whole milk and plain.) It is USDA organic, non-GMO, high in vitamin D and calcium, and contains billions of gut-healthy probiotics. You can find this brand at your local grocery store.

When shopping for Greek yogurt, look for:

  • whole milk: low fat options often include added sugar, and you want the healthy fats that come with it!

  • plain: choose one that has no added flavoring

  • no added sugar: add your own natural sweeteners to yogurt, such as honey, maple syrup, or whole fruit

A Great Meal Prep Option for Breakfast and Snacks

This recipe is the perfect quick and easy meal prep recipe for busy mornings or when you need a healthy snack. Choose a container that has two compartments so that you can keep your yogurt and muesli separate until you are ready to eat. I really like these containers.

How to Make this Parfait

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • In a bowl, combine the Greek Yogurt and real vanilla extract and mix until well combined.

  • Using two serving bowls, divide the Greek Yogurt, then top with ½ cup strawberries, ¼ cup muesli, and a drizzle of honey in each bowl.

  • Serve immediately.

Notes:

  • If you will not be eating right away, keep the muesli separate and add right before serving.
