Enjoy all the delicious flavors that come with burgers without the extra carbs that come with the bun. This recipe is Paleo & Whole30 approved and is a healthier alternative to carb-heavy burgers if you are following the Mediterranean diet.
Hubby and I enjoy grilling all year round. It could be 12 degrees in the middle of January, and there’s a good chance you’ll find us bundled up outside grilling burgers or chicken kabobs. There is something so refreshing about eating a nice, juicy grilled burger in the middle of the winter. It brings just a little hope that the Maine winter will eventually come to an end and warm weather will come again.

How to Choose the Best Beef
When buying beef, look for:
At least 85% lean, 15% fat - Anything leaner, such as 90 or 95% lean, will cause the burgers to fall apart. We need some fat in the beef to keep the burgers together.
Grass-fed and pasture-raised - Happy cows make healthier burgers. Grass-fed beef comes with more brain-healthy fats, so invest in your health by buying grass-fed beef.
Shop local - Support local farmers if possible and stop by a local butcher’s. Be sure to still ask about grass-fed options.
How to Make These Paleo Burger Bowls
Prep Your Space
For this recipe, you will need:
a grill
1 mixing bowl
Servings: 4
Ingredients for the Burger:
1 lb. grass-fed ground beef (85% lean, 15% fat)
1 egg
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon Himalayan pink salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
For the Salad Bowl:
Directions:
Start the grill and allow it to heat up.
In a bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Form the beef into 4 patties, then place onto the preheated grill.
Cook for 5 minutes, then flip the burgers and cook for another 5 minutes.
Remove the burgers from the grill and place on a plate.
Assemble the bowls by adding the lettuce, onion, and tomato. Place one beef patty in the bowl and top with your choice of condiments.
